Happy Monday;
Greetings All:
Today was a beautiful day in Kansas City, it is about 70 degrees and I decided to sit with the grandbaby out on the porch and just crochet a little and watch her play. I have been able to learn a little more about blogging and have been trying to start posting more updates on my Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/NettesCrochetCorner). It has been really relaxing for me and I know my grandbaby enjoyed herself, even though she had to just sit there and watch everyone play since I can't go off the porch. I found several knitting and crochet blogs that I absolutely love and I pray that I can reach their level one day soon. My first blog that has many items that I would love to make is Attic24 (http://attic24.typepad.com/) she uses such beautiful bright spring colors that just uplift your spirit when you see all the beautiful projects she has completed. Another blog that I discovered is Cre8tive Crochet (http://www.cre8tioncrochet.com/) this blog has a lot of fashionable patterns that I love and this pattern the bulky striped cowl (http://www.cre8tioncrochet.com/2013/06/bulky-striped-cowl/) inspired my latest project I am working on. Well, I started this project but I am still working on the Knit1-2-3 checks and garter blanket it is taking forever so I had to sit it down and start on something that I could finish a little faster. Using the idea from the bulky stripped cowl (J hook and Red heart soft yarn) I am making a shawl by extending the foundation double crochet to 90 stitches and then double crocheting in the front post of each row to form a ribbed look. Here is a picture of the project I started I hope it turns out ok, maybe this will be a good pattern for me to start with. God’s Peace be with you!

Hello March;
It's March already... I can't believe that spring is on its way although we are expecting a huge snow storm starting this evening. I am so ready for the weather to change and to be able to sit out on the porch for a little while and take in some fresh air. Spring is my favorite time of year because it is not too hot or too cold it is just right and you only need a light jacket if it gets windy. Can't wait to see the beautiful flowers bloom; only thing I am not ready for are the bugs flying around.
Well, I am still working on this blanket for my friend. I have about 7 inches complete now only about 43 more to go. It is white and the pattern is from the Knit 1-2-3 catalog issue #9; it is called the Garter Checks Throw. This is one of my first really big knitted projects and I can't wait to see the finished project and see the look on my friends face when I give it to her. I am trying to get a phone or another camera that I can use to take pictures and post it on this blog but so far no luck, hopefully that will change very soon. God's peace be with you!
Finally got my daughter to take a picture of my progress on this blanket (Knit 1-2-3 catalog issue #9 - Garter Checks Throw).

It has been a very long time since I started this blog and many things have changed since that time. I have been dealing with an illness that has taken away my balance and stability, I am no longer employed because of it, and I am struggling to continue to do the things that I love like crochet and knit. I am praying that my health will get better and I still try to complete projects however it takes me much longer and I have to ask for the help of my children or husband to finish them. I do not want to continue on being a Debbie Downer so I have to try to talk about some positive things. My youngest son is graduating from high school in May which is really exciting for us. He does not plan on going to college because he wants to pursue a career in the entertainment industry. My daughter will be finishing school a little early so we are looking forward to get her off college a little early next year. Those are the highlights in my life right now. Hopefully I will be adding some interesting items to my blog soon, I started knitting a blanket for a friend of mine that I should have completed a couple of years ago. I started last week and have completed about five inches or so I will try to post some pictures of the design I am using from the Knit 1-2-3 magazine and a picture of my progress. It will be interesting to see how long this is actually going to take to complete but hopefully she will not have to wait much longer. God's peace be with you!
